This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal data when you use our community website.
When you register and use the Community we may process:
Lawful bases (UK GDPR):
Retention for community content
Forum posts, replies, and group content may remain visible even if you delete your account, because removing threads can break discussions. Where appropriate, we may anonymise content (for example, replacing your name with “Deleted user”) while retaining the post for continuity, unless you request removal and we determine removal is appropriate.
Backups may retain copies of data for a limited period before being overwritten.
We use certain services provided by Google to help keep our website secure, understand how our website is used, and (where applicable) measure advertising performance.
We use Google reCAPTCHA to help protect our website from spam, fraud, and automated abuse. When you interact with forms or security checks on our site, reCAPTCHA may process information about your device and browsing activity to assess risk and help determine whether you are a human user. This processing is carried out for security purposes and to protect our services and customers.
We use Google as a processor for reCAPTCHA and have appropriate contractual terms in place.
Processor status : From 2 April 2026, Google processes reCAPTCHA data as a data processor on behalf of website owners for the purpose of providing the reCAPTCHA service.
Lawful basis (UK GDPR): Our legitimate interests in protecting our website, customers, and services from fraud and abuse.
International transfers: Your information may be processed outside the UK. Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used.
We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use our website (for example, which pages are visited and how our site performs). Where required, we will ask for your consent before placing analytics cookies or similar technologies. You can change your choices at any time via our cookie settings (if available).
If we run Google advertising, we may use Google Ads cookies or similar technologies to measure the performance of our ads and improve our marketing. Where required, we will ask for your consent before using marketing cookies or for personalised advertising.
For visitors in the UK (and EEA), Google requires a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) to serve personalised ads.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available from Automattic. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Cookie choices: Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies (for example, analytics or marketing cookies). If we use a cookie banner/settings tool, you can update your choices at any time through those settings.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We may share personal data with service providers who help us operate the Site (for example: hosting providers, email delivery providers, security and spam prevention services such as Google reCAPTCHA, and analytics providers where enabled). These providers act under contractual obligations to protect your data.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You may also request that we correct inaccurate data, object to or restrict certain processing, and (where applicable) request data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Some of our service providers (including Google services described above) may process data outside the UK. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise your data protection rights, contact:

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have handled your personal data unlawfully.
